This is a guide for those doing the beta testing. Know that things may NOT go as planned, some things will break and not work. This is exactly what we are doing this beta testing to find specifically those things. We tried to make things as simple and fast as possible. If you can get your bot online and drive it around that’s a huge success at this stage!
Summary:
- Your goal is to find and record problems with the ZROne platform
- Please complete testing and return or pass on bot within 2 weeks
- All of your experiences are valuable, post everything in discord beta test channel
- You are NOT working with a finished product, expect problems!
Note: there is a whole channel in the discord server just for beta testing, join to see latest chats. If you have discord please announce you started testing there and post a quick pic after unboxing.
Danger: Most of the beta units now days only have a battery socket for one 18650 cell, but some older units had battery sockets for 2 batteries. No matter how much everyone seems to be aware of this problem everyone seems to end up accidentally installing one battery backwards and one battery correctly creating a short, at this point the batteries are very hard to remove. Please only install one battery in your beta unit, that will avoid this altogether. If you insist on using two use a ribbon or something so you can quickly remove batteries in case of wrong installation. TLDR; only ever use one battery.

- Open the box and take the top foam off using the finger holes.
- Pull the bot straight up and out of the bottom foam piece.

- Go over the quickstart guide and take notes on anything you think can be improved on or anything that’s confusing to you, it WILL be confusing to others too let’s get it clarified.

So after you’ve gone through the quickstart and have driven around a bit and used some of the features fill out our questionnaire
- Copy the after testing questions and start a new topic where you fill out the questions. Simply copy the text from the top “ZROne Beta Feedback Form”, go back to the beta testing category, click “new topic” and paste the questions in. Fill them out and click “create topic” when done. You will be able to edit after if you need to.

At this point if you want to do more great, go ahead use Legos, servos 3d printed parts or whatever you want to create whatever you can think of, and please share your experience in the “Community Builds” topic or on discord, we are very interested. We may also post an “extended beta activities” you can do, like programming activities and more advanced controllers.

If you’re done and the bot is just going to collect dust on the shelf please recruit another beta tester to pass to or return it and we will find another beta tester. Please do a factory reset on your bot before handing off to another beta tester Factory Reset.
